James is Senior Vice President at Google-Alphabet, reporting to the CEO. As President for Research, Labs, Technology & Society, he focuses on Google and Google DeepMind’s most ambitious foundational and applied innovations in AI, Computing, and Science, and in areas that have potential for broad beneficial impact on people and society.

He also oversees Google Research (Google's Research organization pursuing cutting-edge foundational and applied advances in AI/ML, Computer Science, Quantum AI, and Science), Google Labs (Google’s home for the latest AI experiments and technology), Google Learning (helping everyone in the world learn anything in the world), and Google Sustainability – all extraordinary teams advancing Google’s mission.
