I Prize the Realization of Human Rights

Emily Musil Church is a strategist and thought leader in harnessing technology to address global challenges for social good. Dr. Church directs the impact work for the Global Learning XPRIZE, where she bridges the worlds of research, innovation, and global development.

Prior to joining XPRIZE, Dr. Church spent over a decade in academia where as a professor she specialized in African history, human rights, and women’s global issues. She has consulted for a number of non-profit organizations including the USC Shoah Foundation and Nomadic Wax. Her diverse background working with academics, politicians, and executives provided the opportunity to manage strategic partnerships, design complex research projects, oversee budgets, speak to a range of international audiences, and publish in various outlets.

Dr. Church has a Ph.D. and M.A. from UCLA, and a B.A. from Drew University. She won a Fulbright-Hays Research Fellowship and has conducted in-depth research in over a dozen countries on three continents. She has served as a Judge for the Gleitsman International Activist Award for the Harvard University Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership and serves on the OECD’s Senior Advisory Group for Blended Finance. She lives with her husband and two children in Los Angeles and is an untrained but enthusiastic dancer.
