Chief Scientific Officer of Kultevat, Inc.,; Member of National Science Board of the National Science Foundation; Also serves on Boards of Directors of MircroGen Biotech (Ireland) and Performance Plants, Inc. (ON, Canada); and advisory boards of non-governmental organizations in the US and Italy.

Formerly, President of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center (St. Louis); held academic positions at The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, CA); World Food Center, UC Davis; Univ. of Saskatchewan. Appointed by Pres. Obama as Director of National Institutes of Food and Agriculture, US Department of Agriculture. 

Beachy is a pioneer in science and technology related to food and agriculture for which he was elected to the US Academy of Science and other science academies. He received multiple national and international awards for his research. Current efforts are devoted to promoting innovation and entrepreneurism in food safety, and sustainable agriculture. He earned the Ph.D. from Michigan State University, with post-doctoral fellowships at Cornell University.
